This weekend (actually Thursday through Sunday) MFW let me attend a Self Bow making class.  Many kudos and thanks to her for basically braving the kids alone for four days. Many thanks to the friends who provided back up and I'm sure a measure of sanity. Also it probably saved a call to the national guard to contain the twin tornadoes....but I digress. =)

Well I know the answers to at least one of these questions will be controversial, but here goes

Anyone reading this that want's to know something, now's the time to ask. =) Y'all know the rules....

I know this topic has been beat to death. I know the horse has four hooves pointing at the sky. I'm gonna vent anyway.

If you are going to have an in depth discussion with your wife about her medical issues don't you think it would be a good time to take it OFF speakerphone and pick up the friggin' handset?

Call me crazy but man.....

1. I am thankful for my kids. Watching them in Jump Bunch is too funny.
2. I am thankful for my new job. I'm on a team with a bunch of intelligent people with a good sense of humor. Wow what a change.
3. I am thankful for good friends and D&D. Man those Friday nights mean a lot to me.
4. I am thankful that the weather seems to finally be warming up. I want to go fishing and not freeze my cojones off.
5. I am thankful that some friends seem to be catching a break in their house hunt.
6. I am thankful for the training I had this week, it was a fun time.
7. I am thankful that NMCI finally got off the A$$ and hooked up my phone at work.

This update is mainly for family and friends.

It has been a Looong time since my last post. Mainly this is due to burnout from work. I quit my job and my last day was last Friday. Woo Hoo!!

I started my new job today as a bona fide government employee. After filling out about 9 million (give or take) forms, and being given the grand tour of my "home" group by a very energetic and bubbly lady (Who says federal employees are boring? heh) I finally made it to my new desk. My "Home" group gave me a spiffy new jacket and my new coworkers left a nice polo as a present. New job AND gifts? Woo.

I fell like a weight has been lifted and am actually excited about going to work again. I'll also be able to hit LJ during lunch so my posting should go back to normal.

Well my yearly camping trip is coming up and I am SOOOOOO looking forward to it. I need a break to gather my mind and thoughts. I grew up in the woods, before the age of video games, and I spent many hours in the forest. Every time I get to go to the woods it takes me back. Being in nature gives me peace and calms me. I guess since I work a tech job I need to get primitive once in a while.

Speaking of jobs looks like I have some decisions to make. I am still looking, but there may be an internal option open. I'll investigate all avenues. I've been on the current contract for 14 years. Yeah I know it is a long time, but with everything I was involved in the time seemed to fly by. Now we are in the sunset phase and I dread the work I do. I need a change. Health and Sanity doth suffer, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, yadda yadda yadda.

So Jack is going to play this weekend. Camping, hikes, possibly some hunting. We'll see. This time when I slip off into the woods I'll make sure and take one of the radios so the guys won't send out a search party again. Well that was on the first trip, this trip will most likely involve lots of axe throwing again. =D Good times, Good times......

Well today I turned on the afterburners in the job hunt. I'll be flooding out resumes and what not, seeing if any companies are interested in hiring a software / Electrical engineer. EE undergrad, Control Systems Master's degree with a focus in artificial intelligence, and 14 years experience in systems / software engineering.

I HATE job hunting. It is probably why it took three years of charging windmills before I finally admitted my job stinks like a poo filled diaper. Actually it's the corporate takeover and the culture shock from that combined with a bit of good ole boy contract shenanigans to spice things up. Well my lances are broken, the windmill remains, and my horse just went on strike. Bleh.

Too bad  I can't REALLY hunt a job. It would be so much easier to stalk, bag and tag a job than do the "Hi I'm wonderful" speech repeatedly.
